On my whole walk home I kept my eyes open for flags.  In Davis Square the Stars-and-Stripes had been been run back up the pole by the T station, but several of the banks hadn’t yet noticed (or bothered to do anything about)  the  red pine-tree flags that they are now flying.

From the scuttle-butt at work, the Children of Liberty were particularly busy here in the Boston area.  I don’t know where they found (or made) so many New England flags or how they got to some of the more inaccessible flag poles.  At the minimum, CoL supporters managed to get into all six New England state-houses for this stunt.  In Providence and Connecticut, the Pine Flag was accompanied by the green Harp Flag of Eire — clearly in honor of St. Paddy’s Day.

The flags are staying up through tomorrow on Boston city buildings since Suffolk County is celebrating Evacuation Day — the day the British decided the city wasn’t worth their trouble and left it in the hands of the colonists.  I think that is clearly the history that the Children of Liberty are invoking here.

I’m impressed.  Where do these guys get their ideas?  Where are they getting their funding?
